Clean Energy Improvement Program (CEIP)
The Town of Stettler is pleased to announce the official launch of the Clean Energy Improvement Program, in partnership with Alberta Municipalities.
The Clean Energy Improvement Program (CEIP) is a financing resource that provides residential property owners the opportunity to borrow money to make energy efficient and renewable upgrades to their homes through flexible, long-term financing that is repaid through the municipal tax bill. The goal of the program is to empower residents to renovate their property in ways that will increase sustainability while decreasing utility payments. Project examples include furnace replacements, adding insulation, replacing windows, adding solar PV, and more.
Says Mayor Sean Nolls,
“We are pleased to partner with Alberta Municipalities to offer this awesome program, making sustainable and green renovations affordable in our community. We hope to see a number of residents take advantage of this financing tool, and as many local contractors as possible sign up to become involved in this opportunity.”
The Town of Stettler currently offers an interest rate of 5.6%. The financing is tied to the property, and can be easily transferred upon sale to new owners who will continue to enjoy the benefits and savings from the upgrades. Local contractors are reminded that in order to be eligible to install CEIP-funded projects, they must register as Qualified Contractors with Alberta Municipalities.
Alberta Municipalities is a not-for-profit association representing 265 of Alberta’s municipalities including cities, towns, villages, summer villages, and specialized municipalities.
